About Camp Waterford

CW was founded by Chris and Rachel Guest who are both qualified PE teachers. We aim to provide a non-residential children's activity camp with the following objectives:

  1. To allow children to experience a broad range of activities through an atmosphere that ensures:
    • Safety
    • Fun
    • Learning
  2. Given that the camp runs within a Quaker school we attempt to apply the shool's positive principles by ensuring that the activities we run help to promote:
    • Fairness
    • Honesty
    • Kindness and respect for others
  3. These principles underpin all our dealings and relationships with the children, parents, staff and the wider community.
  4. We encourage staff and children to have open and friendly relationship within a professional setting.
  5. Central to our staff recruitment policy is a committment to continuous staff training. We are hoping that over the years some of the children who come to our camp may have the opportunity to come back as coaches.
  6. Equal Opportunities — All staff, children and parents will be treated equally whatever their race, religion, language, culture, gender, health, disability, personality or lifestyle.
  7. Child Protection — All issues concerning chld abuse will be dealt with responsibly. When any person has knowledge or suspicion that a child is at risk from abuse they have a personal duty to report this to:
    • The Camp Directors
    • Community Services
    • The Gardai
  8. Bullying is not tolerated under any circumstances at Camp Waterford. If children are victims of bullying or witness it, they are encouraged to speak to their coaches and/or the Camp Directors. If coaches witness bullying they must report it immediately to the Camp Directors. Bullying will be dealt with immediately and parents will be informed of any action taken.
